FIGN joins Night of Champions 2026 as a VIP guest

On September 20, FIGN attended Night of Champions 2026 as a VIP guest of Phoenix Sports. The event brought together eight Nigerian EAFC competitors, with Mitch named the 2026 ultimate champion in the organizer’s thank-you announcement.

An invitation into the wider gaming community

Phoenix Sports organizes competitive gaming events including The Journey, The Journey Minis, and The Night of Champions. The organizers also invited FIGN to present awards as part of the evening’s celebrations.

For us, that welcome matters. FIGN’s work includes creating spaces where women and girls can play, learn, and build careers. It also means showing up in the wider gaming community, where tournaments happen, players earn recognition, and organizations shape what comes next.

Women belong in all of those conversations. As competitors, organizers, creators, commentators, and leaders, we have a place throughout the industry. Being present at events like Night of Champions is one way we put that belief into practice.

Recognizing the work behind competition

A championship gives players a clear moment of recognition. It also gives a community a reason to pay attention to the practice, commitment, and organization that competitive gaming requires.

We want girls discovering esports to see that range of work. Playing is one route in. Producing events, telling players’ stories, casting matches, and supporting communities are others. The more visible those roles become, the easier it is for someone new to imagine where she might fit.
